ITM announces chosen Charity
ITM is proud to announce it will be supporting Women’s Aid at its Conference Gala Dinner on 1 May in Brighton.
Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse. Since 1974, Women’s Aid has been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic violence and abuse through practice, research, awareness and policy, helping to build a future where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.
This year’s charity was nominated by ITM Supplier Member, Sam Davies from Business Travel Direct / ATG UK. Women’s Aid provided support to Sam’s sister who was subjected to physical and emotional abuse over a 3-year period, including threats to end her and her children’s lives.
Sam Davies says “I can never thank Women’s Aid enough for the emergency assistance and ongoing support they have provided to Jacqui. They have made it possible for my sister to leave an abusive relationship and I truly believe this saved her life. Jacqui really wants to give something back to those who have helped her; to raise awareness of the work they do and to allow them to support more families around the UK. Last year a group of us climbed Snowdon to raise £1,800 for our local Women’s Aid centre and now we are thrilled to have the opportunity to support Women’s Aid nationally, ensuring their services are available to a greater number of people.”
Scott Davies, ITM CEO says, “We are proud to be supporting this incredible charity which is providing a lifeline to survivors of domestic abuse. Last year an estimated 2 million people experienced domestic abuse in the UK alone. We hope the ITM Community will dig deep and help us to raise vital funds that will change lives for the better.”
