Sustainability Summit

THE EVENT REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED AS WE HAVE REACHED CAPACITY
If you would stil like to attend, please contact secretariat@itm.org.uk

As we begin a new year there is an increasing sense of desire to be kinder to our planet by building towards a more responsible industry and programme.

Organisations are setting commitments to net zero emissions and business travel will play a part in the plan to deliver on these goals, regardless of whether travel accounts for 10% or 90% of a company’s emissions. New legislation and audit requirements will come shortly, and we owe it to our industry to drive change now before it becomes imposed upon us.

Responsible business travel is undoubtably a power for good, both economically and socially. We need to raise the voice of business travel, internally and externally, and come together as an industry to align our voice and actions to address climate change.

During this event we will hear from a range of speakers and organisations who are already making great headway to drive change. Each session will aimt to provide the tools needed for our community to come together on this increasingly important step change in how we do business whilst respecting our planet, people, and profit.

The Time Really is NOW

During this opening session we remind ourselves of the current challenge that lies ahead for our world and how mother nature is reacting. World leaders have met through events such as COP26 & 27 to lay out plans and commitments but we all have a part to play and must play it now.

There will be legislation that will come as governments formulate how they can deliver on emissions targets and decarbonise industry. Travel is often a focal point so we must proactively play our part in driving change together, as a collective community rather than a highly competitive industry. As experts in our field, we have a great opportunity to advocate and drive that change, within organisations and externally.

But this isn’t just an industry or business focused priority, it’s also personal. So, what can we all do and how can all those little steps add up to moving that needle and collectively reducing our impact.

The Role of the TMC in Embedding Sustainable Practice

The TMC has always been a critical advisor and partner to the corporate travel manager/buyer but how does this role play out in support of setting out a travel programme’s sustainable travel programme strategy?

During this session we will hear from a TMC who has made great progress in this area and their view on how a TMC partner can not only act as the conduit for inclusion of relevant 3rd parties to help deliver initiatives, support buyers in advocating successfully within their business, identify the right suppliers but most importantly how to make the best use of data available to support the right decisions.

The Road to Net Zero

There is much talk across the industry about SAF and the critical role it will play in decarbonising the aviation sector, but what else is there underway and what investments in the operation, both internally and externally, can truly move the dial and make a significant positive impact on aviation’s impact on the environment.

Embedding Sustainability Across the Value Chain

For international or long-haul carriers, electric and hydrogen powered aircraft may be a very distant reality. However, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) presents a much more significant short term opportunity for airlines to decarbonise.

During this session we will hear about an exciting new flight challenge being undertaken by Virgin Atlantic and how they are working across industry and supply chains to make this exciting and world first flight come to life.
